Holz Lane Realignment at SH 21
Commissioner Theriot, Precinct 3 | Engineer: HDR Engineering, Inc.

This project will redesign the intersection of Holz Lane (CR 224) and SH 21 to enhance safety and improve mobility as Caldwell County continues to grow. Holz Lane currently meets SH 21 at an angle that limits sight distance. To address this, the project will realign the intersection along a new route to create a perpendicular T-intersection, improving visibility and overall safety. The final alignment for the new route has not been determined.
IMPROVEMENTS
Realigning the roadway to connect with SH 21 at a perpendicular T-intersection
Widening the roadway to include two-foot shoulders
COST: $460,000
PURPOSE
Improve visibility at the intersection
Enhance roadway safety
Improve mobility
RIGHT OF WAY
This project will require additional right of way to complete construction. Once design is underway, a better estimate of right-of-way needs will be determined. Funding for both right-of-way acquisition and construction has not been identified.
SCHEDULE
DESIGN: 2025 — 2027
The design process will include evaluations of current traffic, drainage, and environmental features will be evaluated, along with community input. Design is anticipated to be completed by early 2027. Timelines for right-of-way acquisition and construction have not been determined.
